Greetings
While belonging to the Osaka University Hospital’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery, I worked for the university hospital and other affiliated hospitals. On July 1, 2016, I opened the Akashi Spine Center in Hyogo Prefecture.
The doctors of the Akashi Spine Center provide outstanding care to patients suffering from ailments of the spine, from the neck (cervical spine) to the lower back (lumbar spine), with prompt and accurate diagnosis using the latest MRI device, and the most effective treatment plans.
We offer all-in-one spine treatment by leveraging our experience in approximately 3,000 surgical cases (from 2004 to the present) and coordinating with the hospital’s Rehabilitation Department and Anesthesia Department (Pain Clinic).
We employ state-of-the-art medical equipment (e.g., spinal cord monitor, spine navigation system and spinal endoscope) and skilled spine nurses and medical engineers to ensure that advanced spine surgeries are performed in a safe, secure and less-invasive manner.
The entire staff at Akashi Spine Center is committed to providing the highest quality medical care with the goal of enabling patients to engage in the activities of daily life with the greatest ease and comfort.
Takahiro Ishii Director of the Akashi Spine Center

- As a Spine Specialist (advising doctor of the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research), I treat patients with a wide range of diseases of the backbone, from the cervical spine to the lumbar spine.
I am especially good at treating lumbar canal stenosis, lumbar disc hernia, lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis, lower back pain, cervical spondylotic myelopathy, cervical disc hernias, cervical spondylotic radiculopathy and osteoporosis.
My patients often say to me, “doctor, you are easy to talk to. We can say anything to you.”
I make efforts to provide empathetic medical care suited to each of my patients, so please do not hesitate to come and see me if you have any health concerns.

- I am the youngest of all orthopedic surgeons at the hospital. As such, I am determined to provide treatment in a passionate manner. I myself have a herniated disc, so I can understand similar complaints and the pain of my patients. Please do not hesitate to tell me your worries or anxiety. I make the utmost effort to listen attentively, make an adequate diagnosis and give a sufficient explanation. I’m happy if all my patients are happy.
As many patients visit the center seeking for safe and secure, high-quality and minimally invasive medical treatment, I have been constantly learning and practicing to further develop my skills to be able to respond to their needs. My goal is to become a doctor who is trusted by patients in the local community and to support them for a long period of time. So let’s start and undertake treatment together.
