The Hand Surgery & Injury Center has opened at our hospital.
The roles of our hands are, among other things, to hold, grab and pinch things. Seemly simple at first glance, these motions actually require complex coordination of several dozen joints in the hand. In addition, the hand contains a large number of muscles, nerves and blood vessels; and some of these can develop bothersome symptoms. As a precise diagnosis is often difficult to make, treatment for hand disorders may not always be the most appropriate. In fact, more than a few patients have received inadequate treatment based on an incorrect diagnosis or have been told that their symptoms cannot be healed. Since hand surgery requires even higher specialized expertise and skills, a treatment system developed by hand specialists has been established. If you consult a hand specialist soon after the onset of a symptom, treatment may require only an injection or rehabilitation rather than a surgical procedure. We have a specialist certified by the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand (as of November 2017) on our staff. If you suffer from symptoms of the upper extremities, such as the hand and elbow, please feel free to come to the Center.

- The upper extremities, from the shoulder to the fingertip, enable various motor functions that are indispensable. Since a large number of joints, muscles, nerves and blood vessels exist in the upper extremities and may cause a wide variety of symptoms, an appropriate diagnosis and adequate treatment have not been given in many cases. If you are bothered by symptom of the upper extremities, including the hand and elbow, please do not hesitate to visit the Center.
